Latest Software for Raychart 435 and 435i: Version 1.11

RC435/RC435i v01.11.00 Software Upgrade Instructions

Software enhancements have been made to the RC435/435i application software. The latest version is v1.11.00, which supercedes v1.09.00. This software upgrade requires a Compact Flash Card and PC equipped with a Compact Flash read/writer.

Application Software version 01.11.00 allows these units to detect and track the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) satellites PRN 135 and PRN 138.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decommissioned two WAAS GPS satellites (PRN 122 and PRN 134) over the summer of 2007 and activated two replacement satellites (PRN 135 and PRN 138). The RC435 and RC435i chartplotters were unable to track the two replacement satellites. The products have been providing standard GPS accuracy, but were unable to provide the additional accuracy achieved using the WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) satellites.

This new software package (version 1.11) will correct the issue that prevented these particular products from detecting the new WAAS satellites. No other features or functions have been added with this release.

How can I tell which software version is installed in my RC435 or RC435i

The Raychart 435 chartplotter reports its software version in the lower right-hand corner of the "Warning" screen that appears at power on.

Upgrading the RC435/435i Operating Software

To upgrade the operating software, follow these steps:

  • Insert the Compact Flash memory cartridge into the computer's card reader/writer. The contents of the memory card will appear as a removable drive on your computer system. Open the drive to the card's root directory.
  • Open the folder C:\Raymarine\RC435\ 1_11\ (or other folder) that you created earlier. In that folder, locate the file R4350111.asu. Copy the file to the root directory of the Compact Flash memory card. For example, if your CF card reader is identified by the computer as drive "E:", simply open this drive, and paste the file there. Remove the Compact Flash memory card from the PC reader/writer using the procedure outlined by the card reader manufacturer.
  • Insert the upgrade cartridge into the RC435/435i card slot. Turn on the RC435/435i by pressing the POWER button. It will power on to a white screen with black text. You will see the message UPGRADE CARTRIDGE FOUND on the screen. It will take the RC435/435i about 60 seconds to upgrade the operating software. When it finishes, you will be prompted to remove the cartridge from the card reader.
  • Press ENTER and the RC435/435i restarts. When the legal disclaimer appears, look at the lower right-hand corner of the box. The installed software version is reported there. It should now read 01.11.00.
