The Unviversal Sterndrive operates the power steering valve in the same way as the steering cable. When you disengage the autopilot, a clutch disengages the I/O drive so you can steer the boat manually.

Note: This drive is not compatible with 1997 or later Mercruiser power assist Inboard/Outboard drives or any system using Teleflex non feedback helms.
