Raymarine’s commitment to sustainability: WEEE compliance and responsible recycling of electronics, batteries, and packaging.
Sustainability and particularly the Preservation of Marine Life are key anchors of Raymarine's way of doing business. These are recognised both by our ISO14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) accreditation and our positive assessment by EcoVadis. There are 3 key types of waste associated with our products: Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries, and Packaging.
Our Product End of Life Policy sets out the responsibilities and processes related to this, both for Raymarine and the national suppliers of our product, if they are placing Raymarine goods onto a particular market.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) contains materials, components and substances that may be hazardous to human health and the environment if not handled correctly. Raymarine is committed to meeting its obligations in this regard, including the regulations related to recycling and disposal of Raymarine product at the end of its life.
To avoid further environmental impact through transporting the end of life product again, the most environmentally friendly route is for the end user / customer to dispose of the WEEE through an accredited disposal site close to where it has been used / fitted. You should ensure that the WEEE is collected separately and sent for proper treatment. Local authorities in many regions have established collection schemes where waste electrical and electronic equipment can be correctly handled at local recycling centres or other collection point.
All Raymarine product carries the ‘crossed out wheely-bin’ symbol to remind users that it must be disposed of correctly (not in the regular bin).
Raymarine and its national suppliers are committed to meeting all relevant legislation with regard the proper treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The table below is designed to help end users know what to do:

Raymarine is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations 2014. These Regulations require producers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the takeback of WEEE resulting from products that they place on the EU market. This helps to ensure that WEEE is reused or recycled safely. In line with that commitment Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is taken back from business customers free of charge on a one-for one, like-for-like basis.

You also have a role to play in ensuring that WEEE is reused and recycled safely. The most environmentally friendly route is for the end user / customer to dispose of the WEEE through an accredited disposal site close to where it has been used / fitted. If you choose not to return WEEE to us then you should not dispose of it in your regular bin. The crossed out wheeled-bin symbol on the product reminds users not to dispose WEEE in the bin. You should ensure that the WEEE is collected separately and sent for proper treatment. WEEE contains hazardous substances and if not managed and treated safely it can cause pollution and damage human health.
Batteries should be disposed of according to all local laws according to your location. All waste batteries must be recycled and should not be placed in any of your household wheelie bins. Make sure old batteries are always recycled to protect the environment.
Packaging is required to protect your product from damage whilst it is in transit to you. Raymarine is on a journey to minimise the impact of it packaging whilst still ensuring that products arrive in perfect condition. We are redesigning packaging without plastic and wherever possible moving to the use of materials which are both recycled and recyclable.
Please dispose of your packaging responsibly, complying with all local legislation and recycling wherever possible rather than disposing of in general waste.
