NMEA 2000 - The marine industry standard

NMEA 2000 - The marine industry standard

Developed by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), the NMEA 2000 protocol is the industry-standard communications protocol that allows devices from different brands to share information. Built on a robust terminated backbone design, NMEA 2000 is a Control Area Network (CAN-Bus) that supports serial data communications with data rates up to 250 kbps. NMEA 2000 carries alpha-numeric information like GPS/GNSS position, compass heading, depth, speed, wind, AIS targets, waypoint information, engine data, battery, and more. All Raymarine Axiom series chartplotters displays are NMEA 2000 certified.

SeaTalk NG

SeaTalk NG

SeaTalk NG is Raymarine's cabling system used to carry NMEA 2000 data. SeaTalk NG cabling offers several benefits when networking Raymarine instruments and autopilots.

  • Smaller cables, without locking collars, are easier to route through tight spaces.
  • Color-coded to simplify installation. White spur cables and blue backbone cables eliminate miswiring and help in blind assembly situations.
  • SeaTalk NG cables contain an extra communication wire for SeaTalk 1, allowing older Raymarine devices to integrate with SeaTalk NG compatible devices.
  • NMEA 2000 to SeaTalk NG to adaptors are available to simplify connecting devices with NMEA 2000 connectors.

SeaTalk NG Starter Kit

The SeaTalk NG Starter Kit contains everything needed to build a small SeaTalk NG network. The 5-way connector acts as a short backbone and your SeaTalk NG product is connected via a Spur Cable. The supplied power cable energizes the backbone and terminators complete the circuit.

SeaTalk NG Backbone Kit
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk NG Backbone Kit

The SeaTalk NG Backbone kit contains everything you need to construct a multi-point SeaTalk NG navigation network on board your vessel. Use the backbone cables to run the length of the boat and provide connectivity anywhere it is needed. Insert T-Connectors into the backbone to create spur connections for devices and sensors. The red power cable energizes the network, while blue backbone terminators complete the circuit.

SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG Adaptor Kit
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalk NG Adaptor Kit

The SeaTalk NG to SeaTalk 1 adaptor kit allows older SeaTalk 1 products to communicate with newer SeaTalk NG devices. Older autopilot systems, instruments, GPS receivers, Smart Controllers, and LifeTag systems can be integrated into a modern SeaTalk NG network.

VHF NMEA 0183 to SeaTalk NG Converter Kit
Accessories and Networking

VHF NMEA 0183 to SeaTalk NG Converter Kit

Feed GPS position information from the SeaTalk NG network to an older VHF radio with Digital Selective Calling (DSC). Many 1st generation DSC radios need vessel position fix data in NMEA 0183 format to support their distress, safety and calling features. This kit reads NMEA 2000 GPS/GNSS information from the SeaTalk NG network and outputs NMEA 0183 sentences to support older DSC VHF radios.

Cable Kit for NMEA 2000 Engine Gateways
Accessories and Networking

Cable Kit for NMEA 2000 Engine Gateways

This kit contains all of the components needed to build a small SeaTalk NG data network suitable for 3rd party engine gateway devices (sold seperately). The included 5-way connector, terminators and power cable establish basic connectivity. Use the included spur cable to connect to a Raymarine display or instrument. The supplied SeaTalk NG to DeviceNet (female) adapter creates a connection point for popular NMEA 2000 engine gateways from Mercury, Yamaha, Volvo Penta, and many other manufacturers.

SeaTalk NG Power Cable
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk NG Power Cable

A cable to connect a SeaTalk NG backbone to a 12V switched power supply. This provides power to the whole network and attached devices. Only one power cable is used per network. When attached at the mid-point of a network, this cable powers each half of the network independently. Available in straight and right angle options.

SeaTalk NG T-Piece Connector
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk NG T-Piece Connector

The SeaTalk NG T-Piece connector is used to create a single spur connection point (white) for a SeaTalk NG compatible display, instrument, sensor or network power cable. Dual blue connections allow the network backbone to pass through to other locations on the boat, or connect to the backbone plus a network terminator.

SeaTalk NG 5-WAY Connector
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk NG 5-WAY Connector

The SeaTalk NG 5-Way connector creates up to 3 white spur connections in 1 location for connecting SeaTalk NG devices to the backbone. Dual blue ports connect to backbone cables allowing the network to pass-through to other locations on the boat, or accept network terminators to complete the circuit.

SeaTalk NG Backbone Extender
Accessories and Networking

SeaTalk NG Backbone Extender

The SeaTalk NG Backbone extender is used for linking together blue SeaTalk NG Backbone Cables. Create a long cable from 2 shorter ones, or, use it to plug in a network terminator at the far end of a backbone cable where no other connections exist.
