“As fishing becomes more sophisticated I naturally depend more and more on my Raymarine electronics to not only get to the fishing grounds, but more importantly, to understand what is going on in the water where I’m trying to fish.” – Carter Andrews

Farm to Fly Fishing

Growing up on a Tennessee farm, Carter spent his boyhood on local ponds dreaming of becoming a tournament bass angler… until one day a fellow angler put a fly rod in his hand. That inspired Carter to move to Wyoming to discover the fly fishing scene. He started guiding the area’s fabled lakes and rivers for giant trout and smallmouth bass. In no time, Carter racked up three wins of the Jackson Hole One Fly and a coveted spot on the US Fly Fishing Team. Then, a trip to the Bahamas introduced “Big Boy” to the world of destination saltwater angling.

Saltwater Discovery

Over the next ten years, Carter helped develop fishing lodges, train guides and lead fishing expeditions in the islands of the Bahamas and other global fishing destinations. His success and notoriety in saltwaters made Carter a sought-after subject in countless fishing magazines and a featured guest on fishing shows and videos – often appearing alongside his dear friend Jose Wejebe on TV’s Spanish Fly.

Big Technology for Big Game

After years in the Bahamas, Carter followed his fishing passion to new waters – from Costa Rica to the Snake River; Florida to Bolivia. He continues to go big, targeting the full spectrum of saltwater game fish across the disciplines. He navigates new destinations with the help of his Raymarine Axiom Pro featuring Quantum 2 Radar and a FLIR M232 thermal camera, acknowledging that industry-leading marine electronics “change the way we fish with innovative and reliable products.” He spends his nearly 300 days of fishing annually between Panama and his ranch in Jackson, Wyoming with wife Heidi and daughters Payton and Haley. Carter is known as the most “complete” angler on the water today. He says of Raymarine, “Having a keen understanding of the latest technology and being able to easily use it in my fishing day really makes the difference.”
